About the role
Astana Accounting Pte. Ltd. keeps the books, prepares the accounts and runs the payroll for founders and growing companies. As an Accounting Services Intern you will work in the accounting team on live client files, using cloud accounting software, and learn how an outsourced finance function runs month to month. You will be supervised by an accountant and the Associate Director of the practice.
Internships run for a minimum of three months. Longer placements are welcome, and interns who do well are considered for associate roles.
What you’ll do
- Record sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions for clients in Xero, QuickBooks Online or Jaz.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and accounts receivable and payable listings, and chase missing documents.
- Prepare schedules for year-end financial statements: fixed assets, prepayments, accruals and loans.
- Help prepare quarterly GST returns and the supporting workings.
- Support payroll processing, including CPF submissions, under supervision.
- Help prepare monthly management reports and dashboards for clients.
- Test and document AI and automation tools the team is piloting for bookkeeping and document processing.
- Follow the firm’s confidentiality rules and keep client files tidy and complete.
What you’ll bring
- Current or recently completed studies in accountancy, business or finance, or progress towards ACCA, CA (Singapore) or an equivalent qualification.
- Availability for at least three months, full time.
- A working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Confidence with Excel. Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online or Jaz is a plus, not a requirement.
- Familiarity with Claude or another AI assistant is useful but not a must.
- Care with numbers and deadlines, and the honesty to flag a problem early.
- Clear written and spoken English.
- An interest in how technology is changing accounting work.
