Open role

Audit Intern

Nas Chartered Accountants · Singapore · Internship

About the role

Nas Chartered Accountants is a public accounting firm registered with ACRA and the audit and assurance member of Astana Group. As an Audit Intern you will join engagement teams on statutory audits of private companies, charities, societies and schools, and on review and agreed-upon procedures engagements. You will do real audit work under the supervision of a senior and an engagement partner, and see how an audit opinion is formed from start to finish.

Internships run for a minimum of three months. Longer placements are welcome, and interns who do well are considered for associate roles.

What you’ll do

  • Perform audit procedures assigned by your senior: vouching to source documents, bank and debtor confirmations, analytical review, and testing of revenue, purchases, payroll and fixed assets.
  • Attend year-end stock counts and other client site visits with the engagement team.
  • Prepare lead schedules and working papers in our audit software, clearly enough for a reviewer to follow your work without asking.
  • Draft sections of the financial statements and check them against SFRS disclosure requirements.
  • Help with review engagements (SSRE 2400) and agreed-upon procedures, including grant and claims verification.
  • Raise queries with clients politely and keep a log of open items for your senior.
  • Complete the firm’s independence declaration and follow its confidentiality rules on every engagement.

What you’ll bring

  • Current or recently completed studies in accountancy, business or finance, or progress towards ACCA, CA (Singapore) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Availability for at least three months, full time.
  • A working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and the main financial statements.
  • Confidence with Excel, and willingness to learn audit software quickly. Familiarity with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online or Jaz is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Claude or another AI assistant is useful but not a must.
  • Attention to detail, and the honesty to say when you are unsure or have made a mistake.
  • Clear written and spoken English.
  • Values that match ours: trust, truthfulness, justice, excellence and benefit to others.

What we offer

  • A monthly allowance of S$900 to S$1,800, depending on your stage of study and experience.
  • Direct exposure to the engagement partner on every job, which is rare in larger firms.
  • Audits across companies, charities and schools, so you see more than one industry.
  • A reference and, for strong performers, an offer to join as an associate after graduation.
